Pieter BODINGIUS, child of Thomas BODDINGIUS and Maria Johanna OLIVIERSE. He was born 25 October 1872 at 12:30 AM, in the house with number 197 in Wemeldinge (Z). His birth was registered the same day by his father in Wemeldinge (Z). It should be noted that the clerk, despite properly spelling his father's last name in the text of the registration as Boddingius, made a mistake in the spelling of the last name in the sidebar of the registration (which is used to more easily identify the person which is the subject of the registration) and listed the name as Pieter Bodingius, with a single "d", instead of Boddingius with "dd". Thomas himself signed the birth registration as Thomas Boddingius. Because this mistake was never corrected Pieter's last name and that of his descendants, became Bodingius. He was named after his uncle Pieter Boddingius. He died 7 October 1952 in Rotterdam (ZH) at age 79. He married 12 May 1897 in Rotterdam (ZH), with marriage banns published on 2 May 1897 and 9 May 1897 in Rotterdam (ZH), Schore (Z) and 's-Gravenhage (ZH): Maria de RADDER, child of Willem de RADDER (cigar-maker (sigarenmaker)) and Alida Frederika SIEBER, born 10 November 1874 in Rotterdam (ZH). She died 20 March 1939 in Rotterdam (ZH) at age 64. Their marriage was attended by the parents from both sides. At the time of their marriage, he was 24 years old, working as a stoker (vuurstoker) and living with his brother Johannes Cornelis Boddingius in Rotterdam (ZH), where he moved to on 16 April 1897, after coming from Schore (Z). She was 22 years old, without an occupation and living with her parents in 's-Gravenhage (ZH). They had the following children:

After his marriage with Maria de Radder, they moved to the Roentgenstraat 88, Assendelftstraat (their first child Thomas was born there on 6 August 1898) , Schoutenstraat (their second child Willem was born there 15 October 1899), Kettingstraat 63 (their second born child Willem died there 10 June 1900) , West Zeedijk 81, then to number 46, Bajonetstraat 57, West Zeedijk, another address, Goede Hoopstraat 3a, Groene Hilledijk 11, Boomgaardstraat 41, Rosenveldstraat 44a and on 16 November 1936 to the Van Duijlstraat 25a, all in Rotterdam (ZH).
Initially Pieter Bodingius worked as a stoker (vuurstoker), however in early 1900 he became a dockworker (bootwerker).

He was a witness at the marriage of his brother Anton Adriaan Karel Hubertus Bodingius, on 11 April 1900 in Rotterdam (ZH). Although his family name at the registration of his birth was mistakenly recorded in the civil records as Bodingius, with a single "d", and the birth of his children later on were all registered in that same manner as well, it should be noted that he himself signed his name as Boddingius, with double "dd". |
